Conditions we treat
Palliative care
Palliative care is not giving up on treatment — it is treating what matters most: comfort, dignity and quality time.
What it is
Palliative care is the active care of people with serious, progressive or advanced disease, focused on relieving symptoms — pain, breathlessness, nausea, anxiety, insomnia — and on the quality of life of patient and family.
It can (and should) start early, alongside disease treatment, and not only in the final phase.
Signs it may be time to seek an assessment
- Hard-to-control pain in advanced disease
- Nausea, loss of appetite or weight loss
- Anxiety, distress or insomnia
- A family needing guidance and support
How the assessment works
The first consultation maps the most burdensome symptoms, current medications and the goals of patient and family — which guide every decision that follows.
Cannabinoids may be considered as part of the symptom-control toolkit in selected cases, in line with regulation and in coordination with the team treating the underlying disease.
Frequently asked questions
Is palliative care only for the end of life?
No. Current guidance is for palliative care to start alongside disease treatment, improving symptom control at every stage.
Do you see bedridden patients via telemedicine?
Yes — it is exactly one of the cases where the online format helps most, avoiding difficult travel. Family members and caregivers join the consultation.
